Captain
Jeff Bell

Captain Jeff Bell is the Shafter Police Department's second-in-command and is responsible for operations and support services of the department. He joined the City of Shafter in June of 1999. He desired to work in a small town municipal environment after spending 15 years in law enforcement with Los Angeles County Park Police, now currently known as the Office of Public Safety.

Listed at the top of his many passions is his focused work on issues related to domestic violence for the City of Shafter and County of Kern.

His involvement with the Alliance Against Family Violence and Sexual Assault and Kern County Domestic Violence Advisory Committee have allowed him to have a voice for the City in the continuous effort to lower domestic violence in our community and County. In 2006 he received recognition of his efforts by the Kern County Victim Witness Auxiliary Board and Probation Department Victim Witness Program.

He is court recognized as an expert in domestic violence and has taught and presented at various venues in Kern County. He is the department's DART coordinator and originator of the collaborative program with the City. For additional Domestic Violence information, please click HERE.

In 2006, Captain Bell was the recipient of the first "Law Enforcement Administrator of the Year" award given by the Kern County Law Enforcement Foundation for his work in the department.

Captain Bell is a graduate of the 235th Session of the FBI National Academy. See below for more on this.
