Kevin Zimmermann was sworn in as the City of Shafter Chief of Police on September 28, 2016. Chief Zimmermann’s experience-base includes over 26 years of service with the Kern County Sheriff’s Office where he worked a variety of assignments. Some of those recent experiences include executive management roles over Metropolitan Patrol, Substation Patrol, Robbery-Homicide Investigations, Sexual Assault Investigations, Property Crimes Investigations, Gang Investigations, Drug Investigations, SWAT, Bomb Squad, Crisis Negotiation, Search & Rescue, Reserve Officers, Citizen Service Units, Dispatch Services, and Rural Crime Investigations.
Chief Zimmermann is a Kern County native and he is a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps. Kevin has attained undergraduate degrees in History and Business Management, and he ultimately obtained a Master’s degree with an emphasis on Homeland Security from George Washington University. Chief Zimmermann is an F.B.I. National Academy graduate and he holds a host of other law enforcement certifications available in the State of California.
Chief Zimmermann is committed to maintaining and growing the existing partnerships between the Shafter Police Department and the greater community. Ensuring for the safety of all who live or visit the City of Shafter will occupy the highest of priorities for Chief Zimmermann and his team of law enforcement professionals.
